About me
Austin Klewan is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist from Montclair, New Jersey, with early jazz training under Mike Lee and through the organization Jazz House Kids. After attending the Dreyfoos School of the Arts, he studied saxophone, clarinet, and composition at Northwestern University under Victor Goines, also teaching himself flute.
At Northwestern, he performed and arranged for artists including Victor Goines, Sherman Irby, Don Vappie, Brianna Thompson, and Kenny Washington. He earned a Luminarts Fellowship in Jazz Improvisation in 2018 and later co-led (AK) Squared, winners of the 2020 Detroit Jazz Festival Collegiate Combo Competition.
Klewan is also the saxophonist and co-lead vocalist of Chicago pop/soul group Honey Butter, whose releases have gained millions of Spotify streams and included performances at venues across Chicago, including Dillo Day at Northwestern University.
Austin relocated to Los Angeles in 2021 after graduating college, and currently works as a performer, educator, composer, and recording artist. He has performed nationally and internationally as an instrumentalist in various settings, including party bands, jazz ensembles, and orchestras. In 2024, he recorded saxophone for the festival-selected short film Under The Glass Skylight. In December 2025, he performed live for millions of viewers on FOX NFL for their Pre-Christmas Show. Austin aims to create memorable musical experiences grounded in tradition and inspired by the present moment with each performance.
